Capsule Filling: Rectification Stage 2 Guide

Posted by CapsCanada on 28-Aug-2024 10:36:43 AM

In the previous Technical Tip, we shared that in stage 1 of capsule rectification, the
capsules are all sorted into a horizontal position, where the body of the capsule is
pointed forward. For the second stage of rectification, the magazine and sorting
block work together to deposit the capsules “body first” into the capsule tooling. A
key element of success is that the capsule is vertically straight and centered to the
upper segment for entry. If the capsule is not vertical and centered, it will make
contact with the upper segment and either partially close the capsule creating non-
separation, or will cause a mis-feed.
To ensure the capsule is straight up and down for entry, the horizontal fingers
should be adjusted to push the capsule forward to the point where it leaves the cut-
line of the cap just barely behind the tip of the vertical magazine fingers. In other
words, when the magazine fingers come down and make contact with the capsule,
they need to hit the body, just beyond the cap cut line (see photos for reference).
