Modern capsule filling equipment is designed to remove capsules which do not separate. This is important because we do not want empty capsules getting mixed up with good, finished product.
Filling machines are equipped with shafts and arms with corresponding pins that travel up and inside of the cap of the capsule.
If a capsule has not separated, these pins contact the body dome and push it up and out of the upper segment, where it is sucked away into the dust collection system ensuring its removal from the process.
Set-up of the faulty capsule ejection system includes using format rings which allow for the proper distance of travel of the pins up into the cap. Format rings are stamped with corresponding capsule size, ensuring proper functionality.
