Capsule Filling: Rectification Stage 1

Rectification is the process of sorting capsules into a standard position so they can be loaded into capsule bores. Three machine components work together to accomplish rectification; the magazine, sorting block, and horizontal fingers. The magazine deposits a row of capsules vertically into the rear of the sorting block. Capsules will fall in randomly; some cap first and others body first. The machine must “sort” them all into a standard “body out” position for proper loading into filling machine tooling. How does this happen? The gap in the sorting block is slightly narrower than the outside diameter of the cap. As the horizontal fingers push forward through the block, the frontmost of the triple forks hits the capsule in the middle. The cap being larger in diameter, it remains stationary, just momentarily, and acts as a pivot for the body to move out first. Stay tuned for Rectification, stage2.
